45 - Drag Island

Drag Island is a former CDF, that has been reclaimed as a salt marsh environment.  Is was initially used for the construction of the Garden State Parkway bridge in Great Egg Harbor, but was removed for mitigation purposes when renovations to the Somers Point/Long Port bridge were performed in the mid-1990s.  The sediment at this site is a yellow/orange sand and gravel, typical of New Jersey uplands material. It is unlikely that this site will be used for future disposal of dredged material.  This site was not visited in this investigation.
