Project 1:

Atlantic & Burlington County Sites

81 - Nacote Creek #2

The four Nacote Creek sites are natural New Jersey coastal plain uplands hills that project above the present salt marsh surface elevation.  Each is presently surrounded by marine salt marsh plant growth and its corresponding organic-rich silt sediment.  Coring showed typical coarse sands and gravel found elsewhere on the Atlantic County upland surface typical of the Bridgeton Formation gravelly sand that is the youngest geologic unit of the coastal plain.  Nacote Creek #2 is a pair of topographic high points that consist of coarse gravelly sand and support the pine-oak forest typical of the Atlantic County upland coastal plain.
