228 - Inside Thorofare

Inside Thorofare is an unconfined disposal site composed primarily of sand located along Beach Thorofare just landward of Ventnor City on Absecon Island.  This site probably dates from the initial dredging of Beach Thorofare to facilitate “waterfront” development on Absecon Island during the last decade of the 19^th and the first 20 years of the 20^th Centuries.  Material may have been added from time to time, but not in many years.
