235 - Collins Cove #1

The pair of Collins Cove sites are presumed to be associated with the construction of the Garden State Parkway during the mid-1950’s.  Collins Cove #1 is confined by a low sediment berm, which is breached in a number of places allowing normal tidal exchange with the Mullica River.  The sediment is muddy sand that is distributed along the third of the area closest to the Mullica River.  The thickness of material was less than 4.5 feet.
