258 - West Creek #2

West Creek sites #1, #2, and #3 are unconfined disposal sites located in Ventnor City behind Absecon Island.  They are small in size, and were created during the dredging of the adjacent water body for waterfront development in the 1890's.  The sediment content of the bay floor of the water body is over 90% mud, but when the site was initially dredged, the shallow channel of Beach Thorofare went to the sea just south of the Ventnor City border with Margate City, so sand may have been the major sediment found at that time.  Each of these three sites was present in the 1920 aerial photographs.
