Project 1:
Confined Disposal Site - CDS
109 – Horse Point #1
Horse Point sites #109 and #110 are federally owned confined disposal sites. They are located at the mouth of Cedar Run Creek in Eagleswood Township. The sites both have little confinement and are heavily vegetated. The highest berm walls approach 4 ft NAVD88 and are located in the northeast cell of site #109. At this location GPS data was collected and as well as soil samples. The original salt marsh surface was penetrated at -6ft. The sediment samples showed that the material was 95% silt and any sand present was extremely fine. The site is divided into two major cells that have separate histories in terms of sediment placement. The northeast cell contains 6 feet of mud while the southern cell is virtually empty. |

The core was taken with the auger and
reached the salt marsh originally present prior to dredge material placement. This site is 95% silt with a sand fraction
that is very fine (3.5 phi).
