Unconfined Disposal Site
152 – Harbor Island
Harbor Island is a federally-owned island in Toms River Township. The island is located between Pelican Island and the Inward Thorofare CDF, 400 feet north of the Route 37 causeway just west of the barrier spit. The central, western and southern cells of the island encompass a 63 acre unconfined disposal site (UDS). It is likely that dredge material was placed on this island during the development of the surrounding areas. The sporadic placement of dredge material indicates that the site was not intended for recurring use. GPS and sediment data were not collected at this site. |
