Unconfined Disposal Site
154 – Tilton Point #1 155 – Tilton Point #2
Tilton Point #’s 1 and 2 are state-owned unconfined disposal sites (UDS). They are both located southwest of Tilton Point and south of Applegate Cove in Toms River Twp. Site #1 is very small (1.4 acres) and symmetrical. It is sandy, lightly vegetated and the east side borders the Barnegat Bay. Site #2 is (0.4 miles west) much larger (13 acres) and heavily vegetated. Any fill is placed far more sporadically and is less defined compared to site #1. It is a 0.25 mile south of Applegate Cove and can be accessed by land via Pickwick Drive. This second location might be a combination of selected deposition of sediment among areas of natural uplands emergent through the salt marsh cover. GPS and sediment data were not collected for either site. |
