Unconfined Disposal Site
156 – Great Swan Bay
Great Swan Bay is a state-owned unconfined disposal site (UDS) in Toms River Twp. It is located on an island directly west of Swan Point Road in Ocean Beach. To the north is Little Sedge Island, the body of water located between the two islands is Great Swan Bay. The western and southern sides of the island are bordered by Barnegat Bay. The 2.5 acre site is sandy and moderately vegetated. Dredge material has been sporadically placed throughout the island with the majority of material located on the eastern shore. This site was mostly used a side-cast placement site that was used when the region was initially developed. Today, the site is essentially nesting habitat. GPS and sediment data were not collected for this site. |
