Project 1:
Upland Island
157 – Cattus Island #1 158 – Cattus Island #2
The Cattus Island sites are two county-owned upland islands in Toms River Twp. They are located north of Applegate Cove and west of Barnegat Bay. Site #1 (157) is the southern most site, site #2 (158) is to the north. Both sites have very similar characteristics consisting of near circular shapes with very sharp transitions between the salt marsh and the uplands vegetation; both are approximately a 0.5 acre in size, moderately vegetated and symmetrical in shape. These two sites are natural uplands islands within the marsh environment. GPS and sediment data were not collected for either site.
