Unconfined Disposal Site

260 – Little Sheepshead Creek

Little Sheepshead Creek is a NJDEP-owned unconfined disposal site (UDS) in Little Egg Harbor Township. The 4.5 acre is located at the mouth of Little Sheepshead Creek and Barnegat Bay. The site is heavily vegetated with thick brush and Phragmites. It was most likely a side-cast site for material placed from dredging the creek mouth. The material is sand and has become nesting habitat for birds and the Terrapin Turtle. GPS and sediment data were not collected for the site.
