Project 1:Confined Disposal Site – CDS
91 – Tuckerton Creek #3
Tuckerton Creek CDS #3 is a 4.1 acre NJDEP owned confined disposal site. It has limited confinement with a small berm that is poorly defined and incomplete. The interior of the site is primarily native salt marsh and there are several dikes that run through the interior. There is no indication that dredge material has ever been pumped into the interior of this CDS. However, it appears that dredge material was used to create the berm walls. The site is within 1,000ft of several residential neighborhoods with boat slips and it could be employed for future dredge placement, but the site would need extensive upgrades to become a confined disposal facility. |

The auger core penetrated 4.0 feet and
encountered root-rich mud covering salt marsh at a depth of 2.6 feet below the
surface. The material is a very fine
sand and is mixed with silt to a relatively low percentage. The site has been used very little and is the
smallest of the three along the creek.
