Confined Disposal Site – CDS

99 – Parker Cove

Parker Cove CDS #99 is a federally-owned,14-acre confined disposal site located in Tuckerton.  Specifically, the site is directly across the channel at the boat ramp launch site at the end of Dock Street.  Parker Cove is considered to be a CDS due to the presence of berm walls.  The berm walls are approximately 2-3 ft (NAVD88) and are moderately covered in Phragmites. The interior of the site is almost entirely salt marsh and does not appear to be filled with any dredge material.  The center of the CDS has a shallow pond area that is about 300 by 300 feet.  A weir box is located on the northeast corner of the site; which does not appear to have been recently used.  Sediment and spatial data were collected to define the site and make a determination as to the presence or absence of any dredge sediment placement.

This site contains only a thin layer of fine sandy mud over the salt marsh.  The site is extensive in area, but has little dredge material within the berm as yet.
