Candidate Site
313 - Eightmile Point Eightmile point, also known as Palmyra Cove CDF, is a 22.2 acre Confined Disposal Facility (CDF) located in Palmyra Borough, Burlington County. The CDF is located approximately 1,100 feet south of the foot of the Tacony Palmyra Bridge and accessible via roadway. The site is also located approximately 600 feet east of the eastern bank of the Delaware River. Recent aerial images (dated October 2012) indicate that the site has been recently used for dredging activities related to the Delaware River Deepening Project. Ownership information for this site is undefined from tax records, however a site visit revealed that the CDF is operated and maintained by the USACE. A report by Maher (2005) states that the site contains roughly 450,000 cubic yards and 20 sediment samples collected for the project were classified as silty sand, poorly graded sand with silt, and poorly graded sand. Eightmile Point is considered a candidate site due to its large amount of sandy material, road access, and its availability as a beneficial use site as stated by Maher (2005).
